Re: James Long
Amazing what they can do these days and I'm glad to hear that all has gone well so far - look forward to hearing that James can see!
Please Rick, give him my best wishes too ... and tell him patience is a virtue. Or so they say!

Re: James Long
They won't let him take the mask off even to wash his face and he says it itches
The floor nurse says he is recovering really well and the swelling troubles he was having early on are under control now so it is looking good from the physical side that can be monitored. The tests on the growth they removed should be back by Wednesday but no one is expecting bad news on that front.
We won't know about his eye site for at least a week though...

Re: James Long
James wanted to tell you himself but he cannot remember his password
The tests on the growth came back negative for cancer which was want they were expecting but it is still a major relief to have it official
They have changed the lens on his mask to block out uv so now he can see while wearing it
Now for the really good news. They managed to restore some vision in his left eye bringing it from totally blind up to 20/200 (still legally blind in that eye but it is so much better than having zero sight he just cannot stop smiling). On his right eye the improvement was from 20/400 to 20/40!!! The optometrist tell me they can bring his right eye up to 20/20 with corrective lens but because of the nature of the damage to James left eye they have no way to correct the vision there.
Right now he is under severe restrictions on how long he can have without the mask in place (no more than 15 minutes a day watching TV or viewing a computer monitor and he cannot go outside at all for another month because of the sunlight).
