Hello Free!

Just to make clear that I respect the views of everyone on the board, and just imagine how boring it would be if we all agreed with each other all the time! Agreeing to disagree, and stimulating debate and discussion is always good.

I came here hoping to make friends, get to know everyone a lot better, and also to feel free about expressing opinions without being ridiculed and to learn how others think, what they feel about various subjects, and hopefully to learn more about all sorts of things that I don't know much about! The only time I feel I have to watch my words is when I don't want to hurt someone's feelings. I apologise if I misunderstood, Rick - I didn't think the intention was to only discuss religion and atheism and science, but other controversial issues as well.

Hi to you Petal, I agree. I find this type of discussion not only fun, but educational as well.

pssstt...don't tell anybody but discussions with those that are skeptical just gound me deeper in my faith.

It is awesome to be able to communicate with people all over the world. One thing you say that I have a great interest in is, "How people with different views than mine think.

Yea we have to be careful, however I believe that we all have the right to express our opinions and can excercise that right. If I hurt someones feeling with my belief if presented in a way that is not offensive, then maybe they are in the wrong forum.( I make this statement as in being in a religious forum) I know that sounds a little arrogant, but I think it to be true.

I must have missed something. Not sure what you are saying here.

Pastor Rick said:

The real identity The Neutral Zone is neither of these extremes. Lesa is a self professed atheist and I am a self professed Christian. The board was created as a place where we could talk to each other on a equal footing on matters of faith and science without either of us feeling that we had to be super careful on what we said or how we said it. James owns the board and his main reason for being involved is our trust in him to tell us if we are mis-understanding each other.

So perhaps I read the reason for the board's identity incorrectly, that's all. I don't think you missed anything Free.

I agree, and I also think that the countries we live in, our heritage, the way that we were raised, our individual life experiences, our culture, and all the people who have helped shape our lives have a huge bearing on the way we think and react and express ourselves because that is all a part of who we are. Just a part, mind! But that's why it's interesting to talk to people of different nationalities, and see how we differ even though we're all just people.

I don't think any sincere caring person, which I think most of us are here (unless I'm very gullible) would intentionally set out to hurt anyone's feelings at all. However I'm very aware that different emphasis can be read into someone's way of writing and we aren't all able to always find the right words to express ourselves, and so it's possible to upset somebody without meaning to do so. Doesn't mean anyone is in the wrong forum at all, it just means taking care over the way something is said and thinking about being on the receiving end of it. And some are more sensitive than others.

Re: I have a question

Just went back to visit again on your Christian World board, and am shocked at the hypocrisy - very un Christian comments I would say.

It's very obvious that Mel was talking about Lesigner Girl, Mo, and others of us here who have asked him to stop going on and on and on ... and again, nobody hates anyone as far as I can make out, but to talk about sic-ing someone on us to wind things up or for whatever reason, and someone who obviously wants to beat our brains out from the graphics in his post, is definitely not the way to make others think that Christians are gentle decent people who follow the ways of Christ to the best of their ability!

Of course they can do what they want to, for sure. I went across to see if there was a different side to Mel when he talks to only Christians in the hopes of getting a fair perspective, but found only abuse. Too bad.

"hypocrisy and un-Christian comments"? No way!

Maybe some people are too over-sensative to be on message boards?
I mean, the abuse can be heaped on me, but say "boo" back to anyone else and they start crying.
Isn't THAT hypocricy?
