Re: Books - for and against religion

Quite right Lesa. The act of learning about and believing in the story, like gaining weight, doesn't happen overnight. In the same way that you have to take your time losing a huge amount of body fat once you've gained it, you have to take your time undoing the indoctrination and make the conscious choice to either accept or reject what you thought was the truth.
This is why I believe it is far better to give children all the information available about all the religions available, and not to influence them to believe one story but to allow them to hear all the stories and then make up their own minds as to what is true for them or otherwise.

Erika, Rick, Lesa, Free, Mo - all of you!

Thank you so much for all your caring words and help. I appreciate it all more than you know, and more than I can express.

I've put my own problems on the back burner at the moment as I have family staying here and this is no time really for serious contemplation and I don't have the time to read anything in depth, but once things are back to normal next week I'll be better able to concentrate on examining my real feelings, even more so now thanks to the help from all of you. Have noted down the names and authors of all the reading material recommended and even if it takes a long time, well I've been in limbo for a while anyway!

Big hugs for you all!
