Poor Erika! emoticon
I remember once, when Hubby and I were living in southern [sign in to see URL] rolled over in bed and felt a stabbing pain between my shoulder blades.
Got up, flipped on the light, only to find my cat had brought a tarantula in through the "doggy-door" and put it in bed with [sign in to see URL] one of those "look what I brought you moments" that only pet owners understand.
[sign in to see URL] I captured the spider in a mason jar, then called the VET, as my cats face was swelling up.
He said they were not poisonous, and the cats face swelling was due to irritations to the hairs of the tarantula.
MY HUBBY came home and said......"YOU called the VET! Not the Doctor?" emoticon I figured my cat had been affected [sign in to see URL] if it was poisonous she'd be the one in trouble! emoticon
[sign in to see URL] then took the spider outside, when it got [sign in to see URL] waaaaaaaay up the cliff behind the house and set it free! emoticon

Typical - we usually put everyone else before ourselves, it's a girl thing! Yes - animals too!!

I would've been a gibbering wreck Queeny, honestly. I wouldn't willingly hurt a spider but I really am frightened of them.
Snakes too - eeek, no thank you.

When I first moved down here, I used to scream like crazy. I still do when I see cockroaches.
The other creepy crawlies, if they're not in the house, I ignore them.
We have geckos living in the house, they are very cute. They do make a mess but I don't mind them. In the beginning I used to run away when I saw them, now I just shush them away. It's very funny watching them fight over an insect.

They are cute - very noisy in the mating season though!

I like that they keep the insects down.

[sign in to see URL]'m with you MO! I'm good with spiders, even good with snakes (though cautious)......son and I even stopped traffic and saved a huge Corn snake from the Cub grocery store parking lot one day......
But [sign in to see URL] HATE them! After living in Navy housing and apartments that were infested with [sign in to see URL] cringe if I see one!
[sign in to see URL] know that soap [sign in to see URL] Mule Team® Borax.....(google it) if you sprinkle it behind the fridge, stove, washer, dryer and under the bottom drawers of [sign in to see URL] kills THEM. It's so fine a powder it coats they're skeleton and they suffocate.....
then you can just vacuum them and it up!

Thank you so much for that advice. My son lives in a really old house where he has a terrible problem, he even removed the entire kitchen and rebuilt it to get rid of them and it didn't help.
I'm very pleased about that advice I'll tell him when I visit him next month.

No [sign in to see URL] make sure it's "behind and under"...in places where kids or critters can't get into it...

My mother used to put that stuff in a dish in the bottom of the fridge to get rid of smells, I can only imagine the sort of damage it did to us by the vapors being absorbed into our food.

My mother was very strange.
