Lesa

Hi, I'm Lesa. To prevent offline harassment, I won't state my last name here. emoticon

When I was a wee little girl, I believed in Santa Clause and Jesus Christ because that's what I was told to believe. Later, I determined them both to be myths. I have since heard evidence of the Santa myth being based on a real man who lived a long time ago. However, I have discovered no such evidence for the Jesus myth, despite the fact that I searched for it.

The existence of a god or gods is a little more fuzzy, and it all depends on one's definition. If one considers "God" to be a sentient being with thoughts and feelings, then I have seen no evidence of such a "God" and am therefore not convinced of such a being's existence. If, however, one defines "God" as nature itself, as Einstein himself defined it, then I can agree to the existence of "God," since we all know that nature does indeed exist. In regards to theism, I have none, and will continue to have none unless verifiable evidence comes along someday to convince me otherwise.

Since the owner and other co-admin of The Neutral Zone are both devout Christians, I went into such detail about my lack of theism to show you all how balanced we the staff here are. However, my life doesn't revolve around my lack of theism any more than your lives revolve around the lack of belief in Zeus or the tooth fairy, and saying what I don't believe in really says nothing about me at all.

With that out of the way, here is my introduction...

I was born June 7, 1972, in southwest Michigan, USA, where I have lived ever since. When I take an interest in something, I delve pretty deeply into it and try to master it until the interest has run its course. Some of these interests have involved drawing, carving, sculpting, painting, crocheting, furniture building, singing, and various other things. While I was growing up, I thought about psychology or computer programming as my career. While I don't make a living at either, I now do a little programming, as well as a lot of web page coding that doesn't involve programming, and have made some good side money with that. As with all other interests, I've delved deeply into learning how to excel in these things and continue to do so, but unlike other interests, I don't think I will ever tire of coding. As for psychology, I have a basic understanding of various aspects of the human mind and still find it intriguing, and read various articles from time to time to broaden that understanding.

I am also a bit of an activist. When I see a problem with something, I try to fix it, or at least try to contribute to the solution. Usually I do this through educating myself about the topic, and then spreading awareness to others.

I'm married to a wonderful man, whom I met when I was 17. While we each have different interests, we share the same basic values, we support each other's endeavors, we are best friends, we can tell each other anything, and we trust each other completely. I would say it's a match made in heaven, but since I am a naturalist, I'll just say that it is very fortunate for both of us that we met when we did. emoticon

I was definitely having a seriously senior moment, I thought Lesa and Lesigner Girl were two separate people.

Hi Lesa,

Sorry I didn't get a chance to share my idea on how this part of the board would work but I see you figured it out emoticon

No problem, James. After I saw you and Rick post your introductions, I just had to find the time to write mine up. emoticon

Well, I am a gemini. emoticon

Rick, you said my surname! emoticon

Actually, Sertab, it is a little unusual when you combine it with the spelling of my first name. emoticon

Mo emoticon I like getting to know you too, and was a little surprised that you won't repeat a word I said in one of my posts. emoticon

Petal, I look forward to getting to know you more. emoticon

Re: Lesa

I live with an ultra-conservative husband who almost weeps when I scold him for calling 'women' 'ladies', so as you can imagine those words have been banned in our house forever.
The boys use them and poor old Giv blushes, so I try to to offend him but when he's not around, let's say my boys and I are well-tuned to each others' way of speaking.
I told him your story in the car yesterday and I used the actual word and he did blush, dear man.
