Fort Hood killings

Heard this morning that the "suspected" shooter has been taken off the ventilator.
Hope he recovers well, so that the full story will become known ... such as it may be.

Once again religious fanaticism leads to the deaths of innocent people.

Maybe it would be best to not make judgement just yet. There could be something entirely different then his religion.

Maybe he had relatives where he was to be deployed. And ther was a chance that he might have to shoot and kill one of his own family.

This was only a thought of mine. I dont know. But I do think that it is a bit dangerous to make a judgment yet!

Life very seldom presents a black and white situation.

Somebody's religious fanaticism led to those deaths, even according to your scenario.

Several days have passed by now and it does seem as if his religion may have something to do with the shootings.

How ever the news media keep telling that the 'POWERS THAT BE' was very lax when it came to CHECKING HIM OUT before all this took place!

So who is to blame for these killings? A myriad of wrong decisions were made it that is the case.

Others need to be called out to explained their actions or inactions

Others dropped the ball....
BUT.....each person is responsible for his or her own actions.

Exactly right Queeny!

It also is a wise idea to determine exactly what the cause was before judging someone..... or anyone!

I don't care why or what his reasons were for doing what he did......he killed 13 human beings, his OWN brothers in arms......
On Thursday Military officials filed 13 charges of premeditated murder against Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan
If it were possible to "FRY someone in the electric chair" then revive him.......I'd stand there, pull the lever down and fry his ass 13 times.

The charges are already set though I do disagree with the number count. Currently it stands at 13 counts of premeditated murder. Had this happened in California the count would include the death of the unborn child. The judgment only goes to the charges, 1. did he do it and 2. did he plan to do it. If the answer to both of those questions is yes then the law in a Texas criminal court mandates the death penalty. I think the military court gives a possibility of consecutive life sentences which is not justice and does not respect the lives destroyed by the man.

I'm very much on the fence about the death penalty Rick.
I can see the reason for it and I can understand the desire to do 'justice' for the people killed, but in carrying out the death penalty, the 'hangman' himself becomes a killer.
In the same way that I don't believe in abortion, but I will defend the right of any person to have one, I also don't believe in the death penalty but I can see the reasoning behind it.
Our police have just been giving to use whatever force necessary against criminals who pull guns on them. Our government has had enough of police getting killed because they hold back on shooting criminals with guns. And while I feel this is right and that citizens should be given the right to defend themselves against invaders in their homes with whatever force is necessary, last week a 3-year-old kid who was holding a pipe in his hand was shot to death because the poliiceman thought he had a gun. Did the guy really think the kid, even if he had a gun was going to shoot him? This now makes me hesitate to support this new plan of the justice department.
It's really a difficult thing to have to decide about and I certainly hope I never have to. I wouldn't want to be responsible for the taking of a life, any life, even if the life that's being taken was a horrible one.
