Re: The Evolution Theory Quiz

You scored: 5 / 10

My question would be to MO...
quote:

I got them all right but as I said in the other thread, I really don't want to play these games. I'm not interested in getting converts and I don't want to play games of one-upmanship with anyone over this subject.

Why then would you bother to take the test and post in the forum.
Same with the one you and MEL got into it [sign in to see URL] did you bother trying it and posting what you [sign in to see URL] than to have the last word or get an argument [sign in to see URL] of sound like someone else we used to know.

Just curious..... emoticon

I sucked at the game BTW! emoticon

Re: The Evolution Theory Quiz

Queeny I'm very surprised at your vehement attack on Mo here.
Firstly, she did nothing wrong. We're all entitled to go to the different boards and join in any topic we choose, as far as I know.
All she did was answer the Bible quiz and tell her results, and being an atheist it was natural that she should be happy that she had done well. Instead of congratulating her as happened to others with good scores, Mel accused her of lying.
I then jumped to her defence - you all know that I will not allow my friends to be unfairly attacked and defamed. Mel apologised because he realised that he was wrong, and Mo accepted his apology .. even Rick agreed that he had come down very hard on her, unnecessarily. We bandied some words around, of course we did - that's what discussions are all about.
It was only after the initial hurtful things said by Mel that Mo chose to say that she didn't want to play games of one-upmanship anymore, and she's quite entitled to feel that way and express what she thinks.
I don't think either of us will be coming back to this or any of the other runboards at this rate ... to compare someone with Mo's honesty, decency, intelligence and integrity to "someone else we used to know" i.e. bummee, is most uncalled for, and I think you owe Mo an apology.

Re: The Evolution Theory Quiz

Hey now! This isn't a game of "one upsmanship" but rather a game of what you base your belief (or non-belief) on. As I said in the opening post I respect anyone who has taken the time to really look at all sides of an issue before making a decision. This means the score is for you own edification not as a bragging bit in any way, shape or form. You do not have to even acknowledge your results if you don't want to. Curiosity being what is is though I sometimes wonder how well I would have done on both Mel's Bible Quiz's and this Evolution Quiz 40 years ago when I made my own commitment to Christ and rejected atheism and all the other mainstream religions. I know my own knowledge base has grown a lot since that Sunday morning but I do like to think I was being fair and honest with both God and myself. At a minimum I can say I tried since I took the time to read the entire Worldbook Encyclopedia and the Bible before I made my decision. emoticon

Re: The Evolution Theory Quiz

I asked a simple question. If it upsets her so much and she cares less about the outcome or the results, why then does she take them, and then argue or "discuss" the result with Mel....
And [sign in to see URL]'m pretty sure that MO does not need you jumping to her aid every time someone asks simple question, that you seem to think was an insult to Mo.
I mean she says in the statement that I quoted...
quote:

I really don't want to play these games.

And yet she does. I was just curious as to why.
Sorry that you felt I attacked her but it was reminiscent of how bummie [sign in to see URL] arguing for the sake of arguing...

And PASTOR....

emoticon That is a lot of reading....... emoticon

I had tons of free time (a curse of having a 97% comprehension ability). I had already read the text books being used and the teacher was as boring as paint drying so I just started reading the Encyclopedia during classes emoticon

Queeny I don't really think I was speaking to you.
I know that you are a Runboard Mod and that you are allowed to go to any board and behave like the head prefect, but why I do anything or 'bother' to do anything is really I hate to say it: none of your business, and certainly not enough for you to attack me personally as when you point out my perceived desire to 'have the last word!'

Again, why I took the test and why I posted the result was again, not really any concern of yours but if you have to know, simply to make a point that just because I don't believe the stories in the book are true, I nevertheless know the stories.

I don't understand what you mean by 'caring less.'
If you really mean what I said and that is that I can't possible care less, then again, I merely wanted to say that I don't care enough to play the game.
I really don't understand what 'could care less' means??

Petal is my friend, a real friend, and real friends jump to the defence of their friends when they feel that their friends are being unduly attacked.
My discussion was firstly with Mel and then with Pastor Rick and not with you.
But again, I understand that as a Runboard moderator you have the right to reprimand me if my posts are out of line and if my posts are out of line, I apologise to the management of this board and Runboard.
If anyone would like me to delete my Runboard subscription, I won't need a second warning. I am quite happy to leave any place where I don't feel welcome, and your comments which compare me to someone who I consider my intellectual inferior, certainly made me feel very unwelcome.
Please do not insult me personally by putting me and that that awful man into the same category, I am sure that personal insults are against Runboard rules.
I am now retreating into Anything Goes. If people wish to not visit Anything Goes because I am the 'owner' and if the management of Runboard would like me to move on, I'm quite happy to hand the ownership over to anyone who wants it or to delete it. I can assure you that I have a very full life and with the crisis that I'm dealing with in my life right now, I don't really have an inclination to waste time in pursuits that don't stimulate my intellect or where my presence is unwelcome.

Pastor Rick again it seems that I tend to cause dissent when I visit other people's boards, my withdrawal and any antipathy as a result of it is completely unintended. I regret that it should have come to this again on your board so rather than cause any more dissension, I will remove myself.
If you would like to chat to me, you are more than welcome to visit Anything Goes.

Re: The Evolution Theory Quiz

Excuse me Mo but what Queeny was asking was a simple curiosity question. There was no reprimand or RB mod intervention and if I suspected there was such I guarantee you I would be saying something in the RB inner sanctums. I mean really, LG and I are more than capable of making sure this board is TOS compliant and no insult or slight was intended by Queeny's post that I can see. She was just curious and making conversation.

Oh, wow, that's gonna make it difficult to foil you on one of the Bible quizes then, isn't it? But then, some questions are worded a little ambiguous, so maybe....

Now then, Morwen
quote:

Queeny I don't really think I was speaking to you.

Wow. Isn't this a message board where people interact with one another. I was not under the impression that we were having any sort of private conversation - that's what PMs are for.
quote:

I know that you are a Runboard Mod and that you are allowed to go to any board and behave like the head prefect, but why I do anything or 'bother' to do anything is really I hate to say it: none of your business, and certainly not enough for you to attack me personally as when you point out my perceived desire to 'have the last word!'

I honestly didn't see any sort of attack at all, just a simple question, and I was kinda wondering that myself. But since most everything I say tends to be construed in the worst possible way, I refrained from asking.
quote:

My discussion was firstly with Mel and then with Pastor Rick and not with you.

Again, message boards are pretty much open to whoever would like to discuss things, right?
quote:

But again, I understand that as a Runboard moderator you have the right to reprimand me if my posts are out of line and if my posts are out of line, I apologise to the management of this board and Runboard.

C'mon Morwen, you know better than that. This has nothing to do with who's a mod, it's just turned into a rant because you don't like what was asked.
quote:

If anyone would like me to delete my Runboard subscription, I won't need a second warning. I am quite happy to leave any place where I don't feel welcome, and your comments which compare me to someone who I consider my intellectual inferior, certainly made me feel very unwelcome.

That wasn't very nice to say about Bummie. What is it that makes you feel like you're so much better than anyone else? For all your complaining, griping and whining about being attacked, belittled and put down, I've got to say that to me, it seems that you are the worst offender. I don't say that to be mean, but simply that you might look at yourself and see if there isn't anything that you might want to change in your interaction with others who may disagree with you. This is not an attack, but truth in love.
quote:

Please do not insult me personally by putting me and that that awful man into the same category, I am sure that personal insults are against Runboard rules.

Sometimes you crack me up, Morwen! In the same sentence you are calling someone else names while making threats about your perception of "personal insults" against yourself. Again, try to take a step back and look at this from an outside perspective. Maybe you're too close, emotions running too high. Sometimes it is good to formulate a reply in an email, and then go back through and read it again a few hours later before you decide to post it. I have personally thrown out many of those type of replies. And I'm glad I did.
quote:

I am now retreating into Anything Goes. If people wish to not visit Anything Goes because I am the 'owner'

Well, I won't visit because you banned me.
quote:

I don't really have an inclination to waste time in pursuits that don't stimulate my intellect or where my presence is unwelcome.

You're always welcome at my board, Morwen. I do not have many rules, and I'm not heavy handed in banning. I welcome differing views and opinions because it makes for interesting discussion.
quote:

Pastor Rick again it seems that I tend to cause dissent when I visit other people's boards

I know you're not talking to me, but have you ever stopped to consider why this might be? Have you ever stepped back and looked at your posts from a neutral perspective? When someone says something about you, have you ever not attacked, but just stopped and asked, "Is that what you see in me?" Sometimes some self-reflection can do some good in our lives.
quote:

If you would like to chat to me, you are more than welcome to visit Anything Goes.

Can I come?

emoticon Well maybe... I call it a curse because I didn't learn any study habits at all till I hit college. I just read the book and knew the answers as given in the book. In college I encountered books that either contradicted themselves or presented multiple options as being correct. My freshman year was a total disaster and my sophomore year started just as badly till a English professor figured out what was going on and took the time to teach me the study habits that everyone else had to learn in High School.

Hmm, still, it would probably be a good "curse" to have. Now that you've got the study habits as well, you should be set to go!
