Re: Good News
Well we do have something pretty good! And sometimes we simply do not recognize what we do have. And that is sad indeed!
My sister was having a really bad day with her six kids. It was one of those all day rainy weekends. The father was off someplace and their house was very small. Everyone was crabby at each other.
I had stopped in for a short visit as I often did on my way home. It was now quite dark and the rain had stopped. On my way out to my vehicle I noticed how quiet it was outside. The moon was bright and the storm clouds were chasing each other very fast across the face of the moon.
I went back in and coaxed my sister outside for a moment. I pointed out to her that as bad as her day had been there was a great beauty to partake of after the storm.
I will try to describe what I observed.
A warm evening with a mild breeze rustling the leaves. A slight perfume from a rose bush nearby. Off in the distance you could hear a cow mooing softly for it's calf in the dark. In another direction was a dog barking
and a youngster laughing.
I held my sister as we listened to the quietness and breathed in the perfume from that rose. I also pointed the clouds whisking past the full moon to her.
I noticed that she seemed to relax and a tear rolled down her cheek as we stood there.
The beauty is there if you will only take notice of it!

Re: Good News
I agree, there is much beauty in the world, but we seem to get so distracted by busyness. It makes us forget the beauty around us, how short this life really is, and how long eternity will be with the choices made during our short stay on this earth.
This isn't written to anyone in particular, so nobody get mad at me, but just a general post getting back to the topic and to ensure a proper understanding of the Gospel.
Whether you accept or reject it is completely up to you, but everyone should at least know exactly what Christianity teaches so that they can make an informed decision. The message has been watered down in these modern times, so here's a brief, Biblical explanation:
God created the world so that He would be glorified. He created the world knowing that we would sin. But instead of killing us as we deserve, He sent His Son, Jesus Christ, born of a virgin, to die on a cross to take on the punishment that you and I deserve.
If we respond to that Good News by repenting and putting our trust in the Savior, God will forgive all of our sins, grant us everlasting life, so that we can go to heaven. Then everyone for all eternity will say that God is so good that He saved even you and I. He died to rescue us from His wrath, paying the fine that we owe.
Does that make sense? Love doesn't ignore justice, God cannot simply overlook the crimes. You must understand the infinite offense of sin to an infinite God. Then you can begin to understand the love of God, through the sacrifice made for us.
We're all going to die, and then face judgment.

Do you not know? Have you not heard? He gives strength to the weary. To those who hope in Him, they will soar like eagles. -RSJ

Re: Good News
Beautiful photos for sure Queeny.
During the 1940's when we lived in Geneva, New York which by the way is east of Buffalo and Erie, My folks, myself and siblings would sit in our back yard night after night. We slapped mosquitos and watched the western skies turn a beautiful red and rose colored panorama as we sat there. It was fairly flat ground for miles so the sun and beautiful colors disappeared within a matter of minutes.
A few years later it was apparent that these colors were not so pretty after all. The sun was shining thru the smoke and chemical soup being spewed into the atmosphere west of us.
