So, here it is - all about my screen name and how I came up with it. As a Christian, I looked for a screen name that would reflect that belief, but didn't want anything too common. Melchizedek was a mysterious reference in the OT, and in the NT Jesus is said to be a priest in the order of Melchizedek. However, Melchizedek was taken, so I went with the longer version of Order of Melchizedek. It seems that Mormons use this name somehow, but I’m not sure of the details. Someone at one of the boards I posted at wondered if I was a Mormon because of this log in name. I am not. There is a lot of mystery surrounding Melchizedek, but it seems that he was both king and priest, and also a non-Israelite. The point of all this is that the Levitical priesthood given through Moses was only meant for the Israelites, not all the nations. Levites did not have the right to become kings, they were priests. Jesus came from the tribe of Judah, whose children have only the right to become kings. Since our Savior received the priesthood in the order of Melchizedek, His children shall receive the right to become both priests and kings (and rule with an iron scepter in the Millenium {Rev 2:26-28, 3:21.}) And as a priest forever in the order of Melchizedek, Jesus can intercede for all nations to bring them to the Lord. There are also interesting commentaries at the Blue Letter Bible Here are the Scripture references of Melchizedek. Genesis 14:18 "Then Melchizedek king of Salem (That is, Jerusalem) brought out bread and wine. He was priest of God Most High…" Psalm 110:4 "The LORD has sworn and will not change his mind: "You are a priest forever, in the order of Melchizedek." Hebrews 5:6 "And he says in another place, "You are a priest forever, in the order of Melchizedek." (Psalm 110:4) Hebrews 5:9-10 "...and, once made perfect, he became the source of eternal salvation for all who obey him and was designated by God to be high priest in the order of Melchizedek." Hebrews 6:20 "…where Jesus, who went before us, has entered on our behalf. He has become a high priest forever, in the order of Melchizedek." Hebrews 7:1 "This Melchizedek was king of Salem and priest of God Most High. He met Abraham returning from the defeat of the kings and blessed him…" Hebrews 7:10 "…because when Melchizedek met Abraham, Levi was still in the body of his ancestor." Hebrews 7:11 "If perfection could have been attained through the Levitical priesthood (for on the basis of it the law was given to the people), why was there still need for another priest to come? One in the order of Melchizedek, not in the order of Aaron?" Hebrews 7:15 "And what we have said is even more clear if another priest like Melchizedek appears…" Hebrews 7:17 "For it is declared: "You are a priest forever, in the order of Melchizedek." So, there you have it. nondisclosed_email@example.com (Order ofMelchizedek)Mon, 22 Sep 2008 13:34:48 +0000 Re: Melchizedekhttps://btimeandagain.runboard.com/p2279,from=rss#post2279https://btimeandagain.runboard.com/p2279,from=rss#post2279Ouch. It is boring, and annoying and if not trolling, it is spam. No need to be insulted, Erika, if you are not one of those, then I'll take you at your word. I didn't have you in mind when I posted that. As far as private, I would disagree. Christ was not crucified in private, but in public. And the Bible tells us that we should be proclaiming the Word, and not to hide the light under a shade. I will proclaim the Gospel to all who will hear it - or read it in this case. And those who choose not to, that's their own freedom to do as they will. The mention of your name doesn't bother me at all and I don't dislike you - I've never met you. What I do dislike is the fact that you just don't seem to get the fact that we don't want to be preached at. Time and again we have mentioned that, and a couple of times I've said you're wasting your time because you're either preaching to those who already believe or otherwise you will never convince those who don't, in the way you go about things, to do so. I've kept coming back in the hopes of finding out that you might have conceded a point or two to the others who have given very logical explanations about what they think, but mostly you just get sarcastic and then copy and paste screeds of stuff in the hopes of making your point, not successfully. If you feel called to continue doing that you will have nobody but yourself to read it I'm afraid - because along with the others, I am not prepared to discuss religion with you anymore. I hope, however, that you will be prepared to discuss other subjects quite happily with the rest of us!nondisclosed_email@example.com (Petal Alderin)Thu, 04 Sep 2008 11:34:14 +0000 Re: Melchizedekhttps://btimeandagain.runboard.com/p1842,from=rss#post1842https://btimeandagain.runboard.com/p1842,from=rss#post1842Hi Mel, That was me not James that moved your topic. Because we want the board to be wide open without having a ton of different forums i.e. religion, atheist, movies, concerts ect we created one forum where multiple types of topics go (kinda like a "mega-chat"). We call it the Nekrit Expanse to let others know they can find just about anything there over time. So your topics are still intact, they just got moved there as my 5 picks to begin the population of the new forum. James picked one and I figure he will pick 4 more since the consensus seems to be for each of us admins to "pick 5" to get it started... nondisclosed_email@example.com (Pastor Rick)Thu, 04 Sep 2008 11:19:18 +0000 Re: Melchizedekhttps://btimeandagain.runboard.com/p1830,from=rss#post1830https://btimeandagain.runboard.com/p1830,from=rss#post1830quote: Welcome To The Neutral Zone:   The place to discuss topics that may cause debates on other boards without getting yelled at or banned! Hmm, I feel “yelled at.” Will I be the first to be banned from an unbannable board? I realize there are many who absolutely hate the Lord over here, yet, they are always the first to comment on my posts, even if only to say, “haha, I didn’t read it!”   Now, here's what I don't understand. Maybe someone could enlighten me. If I happen upon a subject that I'm not interested in, I ignore it. If there is a particular poster that I just cannot stand, and the mere mention of their name gives rise to a hateful ball of rage in the pit of my stomach, (and no one here has that effect on me, yet obviously I bring that reaction from them ), then I would avoid their posts. Is it really that difficult? quote:Mel   I have a request to make....don't make me regret welcoming you here, I can become nasty and I don't want to upset admin or owner of this board as they are all very nice but .....   Do not preach Well, I've considered your request, I've prayed about it, and it seems to me that it contradicts what Scripture clearly tells me. If you lack the self-control and tolerance to at least ignore me and my posts, then I guess that would be your own issue to deal with, not mine. As for me, I will stand with Peter and many others who have bled and died in the past so that we have the freedom to preach the life-giving Word of God.   Acts 4:18-19 Then they called them in again and commanded them not to speak or teach at all in the name of Jesus. But Peter and John replied, "Judge for yourselves whether it is right in God's sight to obey you rather than God.   Acts 5:29 Peter and the other apostles replied: "We must obey God rather than men!   So you do what you have to, and I’ll do what I have to. Hey James! I have been spending way too much time over here lately, and certainly don't mean to overwhelm the place with my topics. Although most strongly disagree with them, they remain quite popular - most likely due to the strong disagreement. You might consider a Religion Forum, so that those who are offended by such things, could avoid these type of posts more easily. I currently have 4 topics that are active, yet have degenerated to rabbit trails and meaningless drivel. And a side note, I was attempting to reply to Morwen on the Ten Commandments thread - which was hers, and it dissappeared! Are you cleaning up some topics? nondisclosed_email@example.com (Order ofMelchizedek)Thu, 04 Sep 2008 11:00:22 +0000 Re: Melchizedekhttps://btimeandagain.runboard.com/p1778,from=rss#post1778https://btimeandagain.runboard.com/p1778,from=rss#post1778LOL PR, I try not to be but when I feel provoked who knows what could happen eh?
